life can be challenging

Life can sometimes be very challenging. You plan things and all the sudden everything looks totally different. You ask your-self the famous why questions even though you know you are not going to find an answer.
All that matters in situations like this is faith.... all will be well.

Bachelor Thesis

It's finally done. After long hours of work it could finally hand it in... now it's time to do all the rest :(

How much work...

... can a man do? I guess I have to answer this question as followed: Not enough. Exercises, Bachelortheses, work, more exercises, exams, family....aaaaaaaaaaaa! oky. I'm wasting my time bloggin.

BTW: I started my project again (listening to all my music from A to Z). I'm at Andre Rieu right now (23h 22m) --> total: 1 week, 6days 3h :D

joined facebook

finally I joined facebook. Up to a couple days I haven't seen the need for joining. Curiosity finally won. Dang... there's tons of people I know and it was a great opportunity to get in touch with some people I haven't seen for ages. Good stuff I have to say. There's some smart stuff in there...

My conculusion after a couple day of usage: two thumbs up!

Back to school

After the summer break I'm finally back to school again. I'm back at the university of Zürich an started with some master classes and just finish some of my bachelor stuff. So by the end of the year I should hopefully got my bachelors degree :)

Finally online again

After beeing 1 month without internet we are finally gald to be hooked up to the world again. Dang it... there's just so much depending on the internet. I mean I knew before, but now I experienced it aswell: No Fun!

Since I was leaving most of my life in a house I didn't really get to enjoy the advantage of a garden. I realized it though when we didn't have one also no balcony. You're just trapped. So we are just so happy to have a nice, pretty quite and pretty big balcony. Just sitting outside, having an ice and watching people walking by. So much fun. ... and smelly visitors can sleep there ;)

Finally in our new appartment

YES. Good feeling to have a home again. The sad thing... no internet access yet. The telephone company still needs some time. Oh well, I guess we'll have to live without. This also means no fix phone.

I really like our new flat. It's got a room more, so guests are welcome :) and we also got a balkony which is just sooooo nice. Sitting outside and haven dinner.

Finally we found an appartment. We started looking for one like 3 months ago and we never got one. Either it was too expensive, too far away or they didn't want one, but now we found a nice appartment just in time and it even has a balcony :)

Back from vacation

It was a really nice week. We enjoyed it in a little cabine way up in the mountains. It was just so peaceful and the weather was pretty nice too. It was just the best place to kinda relax and get mentally ready for exames.
Sleeping, hajking, eating, some studying, swiming fishing... is there anything better to do?

Geocaching

Geocaching ist just the bomb. Oky. for those who don't know:
You find the coordinates in the internet (for example on www.geocaching.com). You just type them into your GPS reveiver and you start looking for the treasure. Well, it's not always that easy. There are caches that require to solve riddle first, or some where you can have very difficult terrain, or multi caches where you have to find several caches first that contain the coordinates to the main cache.

Well, it's just way cool. Why? I don't know. It can't be the treasure. Cuz there's only like little stuff, keychaines, magnets and just little stuff in there (most the time), but the feeling of finding it is just way cool!
This was my first cache... it wasn't there anymore. The water has probably taken it, but it was just tons of fun looking for it. Well, if you are looking for a new cool hoppy. this is definitely it. But be aware: Potential for addiction ;)

Got our own car

We are moving up. Last week we bought our own car. It's kinda old, but it's moving and it's in pretty good shape. It's a silver Toyota Corolla and it still looks nice. Pictures are to come. Well other than that, there's nothing much new in our life.
We are still preparing to move out, even though we don't have yet a place to move in ;) ... at least we got a car, so we could sleep there.

french translation

There's an investigator at church. He's from Togo. He only speaks french. Well, I'm almost the only person here who speaks french. Dude... it's dang hard. My french got pretty bad. It's kinda sad to see how the things just flush away. Three hours is a long time.... really long time. But I just kinda got through it.
It was a good excercise. Let's see how I'm going to do next Sunday... or actually tonight ;)

Work is sometime frustrating

Today I've been working for 9 hours on some problem and in the evening I was still not being any further. I guess that's life of every programmer. Well, I guess everybody knows this problem, but it's indeed very frustrating :(
Oh, well that's life. I guess it also makes life interesting :) hehe... well, a break will do good. I hope I'll still know where to continue after the break...

Almost cut off my finger

I was preparing a delicious meal. The base for such a meal would be something with onions. They just give the food the good tast (similar to garlic ;)
Well, cutting onions... and schwubs, a deep cut in my thumb. I could just lift part of my thumb up. Look kinda funny. So now I got a big white bandage on my thumb. Is kinda anoying but I gues I have to live with it.

Spiderman 3

I was actually really excited to see this movie. I had to think about the night a couple times during the day. I don't know exactely why, since I was never too much into his comic books, though somehow I really enjoyed the first two movies.
Well, yesterday night was the great day! Hurry. I must say: Awesome movie. I really enjoyed it. Great action and great story. I also like the computer animation. Way cool. I guess as computer geek I have to say something like that.
I guess this is then also going to be the end of the spiderman trilogy. ... Talking about movies. They are starting to show in a weekly rythm the star wars saga :) all six every week... good oportunity for my wife to finally get aquiented with star wars :) I'm sure she'll enjoy it... the love story is just so romantic.

Papers for school

I'm trying to write as few as possible, but somehow you just have to sometimes. Well, I guess every student does. The fun thing is, that you always find other things to do... Paper is due in two weeks. I guess I'll have to just kick my butt and get it over with.

Summer weather

It seems as if we skipped spring. It's really warm and nice outside and it's only april? This kinda reminds me of Mauritious. There's no spring, no fall, just hot and warm season. I guess it's kinda a nice imagination but being there for almost two years makes you realize how nice it is to have season, even though winter might be cold and dreary it's just nice to see how everything starts again in spring.

Just found Sr. Vials blog and getting more and more excited about personal blogs as I just truely believe they are a great way for staying in touch with people. If there are blogs I would be interested in but don't know yet, let me know.

I'm a baker

Guys you wouldn't believe it. I made bread and it was actually incredibly good. We call it "Züpfä". Well, you can call me Baker ;)
No kiding, it was raelly good and I was a little bit suprised my-self. ... Isn't that a reason to come and visit?

Internet is a blessing

Just chatted with Chuck yesterday... dang it's been a long time, since I've last heard of him. Well I then realized that life would just be a heck a lot more complicated! Thinking of all the letters I had to write, or the expensive phone calls I had to make... I just couldn't picture it.

Well, but instead: chatting with friends around the world, telefoning around the world for free or almost for free, getting general conference live, I guess the list goes on. ... oh almost forgot: and of course the blog with RSS feed! Just so easy to handle and easy to stay in touch with people.

I'm actually curious about how many people use RSS feed to read blogs? It's just awesome and I'm kinda sad that I didn't use it before, but I have to admitt that here over in europe among non computer dudes it's not very popular. What about US?

Writing Papers...

I'm finally starting to see an end of my studies. For my bachelor it's only like 1.5 semesters and this then leaves me with my masters :) which will only the length of a mission.
It's just a nice feeling to know that I'm passed the humpday.

Also reading through an article in newspaper yesterday talking that there are a lot of computer scientists wanted made me really anxious about starting to work. I hope they are still looking for me in a couple years.

Well, but till then I still have to write a couple papers. Writing something about the semantic web and will soon start with my bachelor paper.

Dance classes or Feet kicking?

For this semester me and my wife signed up for a dance class.... I was kinda nervous at the beginning, cuz as the guy you don't want to be th looser. Right? Well, actually I was amazed on how well I did ;) Believe it or not. Ok, I still got losen up, but that's ok.
I'm a young master in:

• Slow walz
• Tango

I'm actually amazed that you can learn that much in just the first lesson... oky. We shall see, what I'll remember next week ;)

Snowboarding

Well winter wasn't that good for snowboarding and I guess there's also the fact, that I'm kinda getting old :(
Well, after 10 years of snowboarding, I tried skiing again and I was pretty ok.

Ok. Just an other blog for my friends in the english speaking part... I guess it's just a way to stay in touch...

Well, why this blog. I got inspired by Christy's Blog. I just though it would be a great way to stay in touch with old friends from far away...
I think everybody should just have an RSS Reader. Live becomes so simple. You just subscribe to the RSS Feed and you can read changes in the blog through the reader. Simply great!

Well, ... spread my blog please! There are tons of people out there, I would like to stay in touch with but just don't get the chance to write to all of them...
